About
Over the last 30 years, the World Famous Gopher Hole Museum in Torrington, Alberta, has become a beloved Canadian icon and bucket list experience for folks from across the globe.

The museum currently features 82 taxidermized "gophers", or more specifically, Richardson's Ground Squirrels, in 48 displays; each a unique, handmade vignette of Torrington’s history.

Sharing the stories of small rural communities through unique anthropomorphic displays of daily life, this little museum, created and run entirely by volunteers, has been a part of many important milestones, including engagements, family reunions, birthdays, memorials, and vacations.

Mission
To preserve and share the stories of rural Alberta while providing an entertaining and educational experience for all visitors. We strive to promote curiosity, creativity, and a sense of humor, fostering a deeper appreciation for rural communities, prairie biodiversity, ecosystems, farming, and the business of agriculture.
